African Market Scene Batik

The village tribes people have handed down the ancient art of batik from generation to generation and are still creating these exceptional works of art today in Africa.

Batik is a free form of expression for the artist during the process and creation of this handmade work. A resistance work.. as they call it. What that means is a wax or paste is made and applied to the cotton twill fabric and the areas where the material is not covered is dyed with various colors. The resistance is paste or wax and this process goes on and on until the work is finished. The entire material is then heated to remove the resistance.

It's special to find and bring such works as these to you, which are still created in Africa today. They are kind enough to share their works with us.

Batiks make fine unique handmade gifts and are a wonderful accent to your wall decor. Enjoy.

Since these art works come from directly from Africa, it takes approximately 3 weeks to ship to your door. At times, it can take up to 4 to 7 weeks. The good news is, if it takes that long to get to you, then rest assured, the village craftsmen and women are hard at work, making the batik especially for you!
