the Bar De L'Entracte Tapestry show us a famous cafe. Just across the cobble stone street, wedged next to the arched stone passage to Rue de Richelieu (famed Paris theatre), a tiny Bar de l'Entracte (cafe or bistro), known as "Intermission" serves aperitif with breads & goat cheese. Thespians sit at the tables surrounded by potted geraniums until the theatre bell rings out, calling them to their seats. It's an Avant spectacle or ‘before the show’ kind-of place to go.

Our artist George Bates captures a glimpse into this exciting Parisian world where the cafe plays such an important role to the theatre next door. Merely a simple pleasure of a bite to eat, while waiting for the curtain call.
