Tapestry, Flaming June by Leighton

Medieval Tapestries

Frederic Lord Leighton painted this oil painting in 1885 and it is considered his greatest work. He was known for his Classicism style which shows a high taste level in the compositions restraint by Leighton. It's classical antiquity is perhaps better suited to post-Medieval European works-of-art, yet we offer it here with the rest of our Medieval Collection, as it seems to be a good fit.

Tapestry, Flaming June could certainly be cast as Venus, as she is painted in the style of the Greek Goddess at rest. A familiar scene in so many great works-of-art, this piece is not only dramatic, but romantic in wall decor.
