The Art of Shisha of Mumtaz Embroidered Tapestry

Cotton Blend & Mirrors, 3'w x 6'h.

The Beauty in Shisha of Mumtaz Embroidered Tapestries

Shisha Embroidery is a textile art using mirrors in a specific pattern or placement. The mirrors are not simply scattered around for decoration. The specific placement of these mirrors is set and it's thought will provide protection to the owner of this fine work of art.

Mumtaz was the wife of Shah Jehan, who is known to have built the Taj Mahal. He built this amazing palace in memory of Mumtaz Mahal, his wife.

Shisha work is traced back to around 1650 and it is thought that Mumtaz created the technique of using mirrors in embroidery. Shisha means little glass in Hindu and brings on a new and exquisite dimension to these fabulous tapestry wall hangings.

Choose from four (4) colors: Black, Red, Light Blue, or Light Brown.

3' w x 6' h, Richly woven cotton blends are embroidered with mirrors.

Another popular stallion wall hanging ridden by the emperor as he rode into battle.
