The partnership formed in 1857 for Nathaniel Currier and James Merritt Ives, established as Currier & Ives and what a partnership it was. It changed the way the world would visually see current events in newspapers for the first time, as well as scenes from around the United States for people's wall decor, where some had never traveled. As lithographers they were able to mass produce the same image for the enormous demand commanded at the time and coined a phrase for their business as, "Publishers of Cheap and Popular Pictures". Whatever the general public was hungry for Currier & Ives managed to produce it. 7500 unique titles and over one million prints were produced in 1835 to 1907.
