Unicorn Tapestries
 A unicorn is a magical creature from myths and legends. Throughout the medieval ages, people (Europeans, in particular) considered the unicorn a religious symbol. This mythical creature often stood for virtues such as chastity, purity and sanctity and it was widespread belief in Medieval times that only a gentle maiden was capable of taming this magical creature.
The unicorn was also known in Medieval times to be representative of Jesus Christ himself. This acquired symbolism gave the Unicorn a revered place in Medieval European society, making it a popular subject of the many different unicorn tapestries were woven into works-of-art that were produced during the Medieval Era. One particular art form that often made use of a unicorn as its subject matter is the decorative wall art known as The Tapestry Cycle. Unicorn tapestries became one of the most popular art works produced during the Medieval Ages.
