My little dog Buns was having a tough time of it, while waiting for me to take her out for another run. We’d been out four times already, but when you have an adorable dog filled with energy, sometimes that just isn’t enough. But, I had to get some work done, so..
Buns decided to take the wool area rug by the kitchen and bring it into the living room and pull it up onto the sofa and curl up for a nap. However, while she was “napping”, she decided the fringe on the rug tasted pretty good and did a pretty good job of chewing on the rug.
I’m glad it was wool, as it’s made from all natural fibers. When it gets wet, it’s not a problem. You can also wash wool rugs with soap and water and they look like new when they dry out.
While my cutie pie was chewing on my rug, she must have gotten one of those wool fringe fibers stuck in her throat, as she had a little cough and then threw up on the sofa and the rug. She looked at me with flying saucer sized eyes and blinked. She knew this was not good. I knew she didn’t mean to be “bad”, so instead I got down on the floor with her and gave her a pat on the head and a kiss and told her it was alright. Then I began cleaning up the little mess.
It was time to go out, but before we went back outside, I popped the wool rug into the washing machine on low and added gentle soap. I also wiped down the sofa, which is also all natural fibers. Everything in my home is all natural, because it’s always a snap to clean and restore to life after spills and chewing and whatever might come their way with a little doggie around. I call it home decor the “easy” way.
After our run I checked on the washing cycle and it was finish and the beautiful virgin wool rug looked as good as new… minus a tiny bit of fringe. I hung it up to dry. I returned to my work in my office and Buns laid down with her head on my bare feet and fell asleep. Tired doggie, happy at last, and mama too.
