If we look way, way back to the 5th century, one rug survived. And that is only because it was frozen solid in Mongolia and forgotten all about. It was uncovered in 1949. Wow, what a find. Normally and because these great floor decorations are made from natural fibers, they cannot withstand the elements for thousands of years. Yup, thats how long rugs have been around and you know what? They are certainly here to stay. Now, that’s no news flash, but imagine our home, restaurants, theaters, and all matter of dwellings desiring and needing decoration. The floor is no different than the walls. Both need to be adorned to enhance and make your decor beautiful and inviting.
Akbar the great emperor was crazy about rugs. He took his weavers with him during his travels. He liked keeping them close by while they worked on creations for him. Even when Akbar was not in residence, the large and beautiful area rugs were used to cover the floors of his tents and tapestries covered the walls and ceiling. As they moved from place to place, everything was rolled up and taken along as they traveled by elephant. The rugs and Akbar tapestries not only decorated his quarters at all times, they helped keep the elements of heat and cold out and left the interior comfortable and well designed and decorated from head to toe. Now, that’s home decor, Akbar style.
